We are looking for a Procurement and Supply Chain Manager who is eager to build a team of commodity managers and buyers to scale up our team from initial prototyping, through product launch, and onward to full scale production.  This is a fantastic position for someone who wants to create an entire procurement and materials management department from the ground up.

About the Role

  • Build and oversee a team of commodity managers, buyer planners, and warehouse personnel 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain fundamental materials management policies, systems and processes such as the PO creation and approval, inventory management, shipping and receiving, and MRB 
  • Select key suppliers and develop a supplier qualification process
  • Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate pricing and Master Supply Agreements
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on material quality, timely delivery, cost reduction, and streamlining of the supply chain
  • Coordinate and supervise shipping/receiving and warehousing operations
  • Supervise, evaluate and coach subordinates
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service on new product timelines to ensure alignment of materials procurement
  • Help cover purchase duties until the team is staffed

About You

  • BS or Masters degree
  • 8+ years experience in materials management
  • Proven experience as a procurement manager or head of procurement
  • Familiarity installing and managing supply chain and inventory management systems such as NetSuite or Oracle Agile
  • Experience managing materials for complex equipment consisting of off-the shelf parts, custom machined parts, sheet metal, weldments, optics, wiring harnesses, and sole sourced electronics
  • Experience managing both on-shore and off-shore suppliers
  • Flexibility to adapt and tune processes to a start-up environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
