Product Manager, User Engagement at Nima

At the intersection of hardware, software, and chemistry, we are developing connected food sensors that  help people be their healthiest selves by knowing what’s in their food. We launched our first product this year, a sensor that is helping thousands avoid gluten in food every day . Sensors for peanut, milk and tree nuts are in development for future release. Nima has been recognized as one of TIME magazine’s “Best Inventions of 2015,” one of CNBC’s Upstart 25 companies, one of Fast Company’s Innovation by Design finalists in health, and Popular Science’s Best of What’s New 2016 in health.

As Nima’s second Product Manager, User Engagement, you will help shape and guide the way we analyze, update, and sell our current products; and how we conceptualize, design, and plan our future products. This role can be considered a hybrid of Product Management and Product Marketing Management.
To excel in this role, you’ll need to think with a strong analytical marketing perspective, be passionate about user experience, and excel at executing projects quickly. You’ll need to manage and influence across departments (Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Customer Support) and prioritize and execute on the most important projects and features. If you hold big picture vision, always back your hypotheses with data, and have the drive and communication skills to convert vision to reality, you will crush this role.


Utilize strong data analysis and deductive reasoning skills to evaluate customer engagement across different products to understand strengths and opportunities for improvement
Develop well defined and actionable plans for how to improve engagement and customer delight
Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and analysis of our own market to best position our products and engage our customers
Serve as the Product Owner for various Nima products, ranging across hardware, software, and user experience touch-points
Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Engineering to implement and execute high priority projects
Utilize agile methodology to plan and execute software prioritization, planning, and execution
Support long-term roadmap planning and communication
Product pricing and margin analysis, with a focus on COGS and revenue
Run regular program reviews to update Exec Staff on the status of all programs, including assessment of risk factors impacting the expected project execution or product launch
Own PRD (Product Requirement Document) and specifications creation and management for your projects
Other duties as required. (This is a startup – there will be a lot of other duties, and the willingness to jump at anything that needs to get done is a must.)


You have a strong analytical background, and know how to use that data to improve customer experiences, engagement, and sales
You’re an expert at data analysis, data visualization tools, and how to draw actionable insights from user and sales data
You love great products and great design, and have a nose for products that people love; Be ready to talk about great products and what specifically makes them great
You’re passionate about user experience, are an advocate for talking to customers, and regularly build user feedback into product requirements
You’ve worked on consumer facing products with a hardware and software component
You’ve managed multiple diverse products at once. It was hard. But you loved it.
