JOB DESCRIPTION
Seriforge is looking for Composites Engineers able to design and realize innovative solutions for automated fabrication of composite parts. We are looking for engineers with hands-on fabrication experience, a solid background in engineering fundamentals and expert level knowledge of composite design, simulation, layup specification, molding tool design, materials testing and research. A successful candidate will be one who has an understanding of the development of composite parts from concept to reality and all the stages in between. Ideal candidates are able to conceptualize and deploy effective solutions to complex and challenging design problems and work well in a highly energized cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide expert level domain knowledge in:
• Composite laminate design and fabrication
• Layup design and specification
• Molding tool design
• Resin infusion (RTM, VARTM, HP-RTM, etc.)
• Simulation
• Material testing and research
Develop fabrication strategies for composite parts using our process
Develop material and part testing process and criteria
Design tooling to make test and prototype parts
Define software toolset used for composite design, simulation, and analysis
Define pipeline for customer CAD data interchange
Define user requirements for our own CAD/CAM software tools and machine software
Stay current on composite research, processes and materials that improve our product
Provide domain expertise in cross-functional brainstorming and design reviews of subsystems and products
Hands-on composite fabrication of test and sample parts


REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5+ years of carbon fiber composite design experience
Carbon fiber fabrication experience - show us your work!
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent experience
Enjoy working in cross-functional teams in a collaborative, hands-on workshop environment
Must be detail oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills absolutely required
Eager to work in a small company startup environment, adapting to shifting priorities, and embracing iteration and change for improvement
Passion for building very cool stuff!
