At the intersection of hardware, software and chemistry, we are developing breakthrough consumer products enabling you to know what is in your food, starting with Nima, a portable food sensor. We are a Series A venture funded company and launched Nima Gluten Sensor in 2017 and will be launching our second product, Nima Peanut Sensor later this year. As our Data Scientist you will join a small and nimble team, and have the ability to influence the product and strategy of our company through the power of data. This role will require strong leadership, collaboration, excellent technical skills, and a lot of creativity.


Responsibilities:

Mine and analyze data to help identify, optimize and improve product, marketing and overall business strategy
Work with stakeholders in product, marketing, sales, and executive team to develop dashboards of our current business pulse
Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
Proactively generate data driven insights and recommendations focused on product and business needs.
Assess and implement effective data analytics platforms for our teams
Collaborate with engineering to develop data warehouse and information architecture
Develop process to manage company data, access tools, and data performance


Requirements:

An educational background in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
3+ years in a data scientist role or similar
Experience dash-boarding/visualizing/presenting data to stakeholders using tools such as Tableau
Experience using statistical languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from relational data sets
Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail
A flexible mindset and comfortable in an early-stage company
A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
Demonstrable experience working with multiple non-technical business stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience with NoSQL databases
Experience using web services: Redshift, S3, etc
Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, MixPanel, Facebook Insights, etc
