We are an early-stage robotics startup based in San Francisco. We design, build, and operate autonomous urban delivery robots. In San Francisco alone, hundreds of thousands of packages are delivered every day. Over half of the world’s population lives in cities at least this big. Robotic delivery will improve reliability and drastically reduce the cost of delivery, touching the lives of billions of people and ultimately transforming how the world works. Our team is small and we’re moving lightning fast to create the world’s first fleet of autonomous delivery robots to solve this Earth-scale problem.

What you’ll be doing

As our Director of Business Development, you’ll be asked to lead the charge on navigating and shaping Marble’s business development strategy to advance Marble’s vision for the  autonomous movement of things. The Director of Business Development will report to the CEO and work with the leadership team. This role is an outstanding opportunity to lead the first last-mile delivery robotic initiative that will transform the movement of goods and services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the formation of business partnerships and negotiation of contracts
  • Lead Marble’s planning and execution of strategy to increase customers and sales
  • Develop and prepare sales materials for potential and existing clients
  • Maintain meaningful relationships with existing customers
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events
  • Responsible for sales forecasting, planning and budgeting ensuring they are appropriately integrated with other planning processes employed within the company
  • Business modeling to ensure that the right customers for Marble are targeted from an engineering, business, operations, and strategic perspective
  • After identifying the right partners for Marble, own the process of moving those partner relationships from initial contact through development of the appropriate relationships throughout the partner organization
  • Negotiate and close strategic partnerships, integrating Marble leadership team as needed throughout the process
  • Enable and transition Marble’s holistic support of the relationship after contract close via Marble leadership team and functional groups
  • Interface with Marble’s product management to capture customer requirements and work with Engineering, Operations, and other teams to aid in product and support development

Experience

  • Five to ten years experience as Director or higher in Corporate or Business Development at a fortune 1000 company in retail, logistics, or ecommerce
  • Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and closing strategic partnerships with Fortune 100 partners
  • A proven track record of seamless integration with entire organization (e.g. Engineering team, Operations) to facilitate successful execution of the strategic partnership by your company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Business or Engineering degree, Undergraduate or Masters level
  • A passion to provide value to the world using robotics
  • Proven experience leading small teams, preferably of other business development team members and/or product managers
  • Creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit
